What to Do After Hotel Checkout in Alicante Before a Late Flight

Hotel checkout at 11:00. Flight at 22:00.

It’s a common travel-day problem: you still have almost a full day in Alicante, but now you have suitcases with you and nowhere particularly comfortable to go.

The good news is that Alicante is an easy city for this kind of gap. The centre is compact, the beach is close, and the C6 airport bus connects central Alicante directly with Alicante Airport.

Instead of spending your last day sitting in a hotel lobby or dragging luggage between cafés, here are some smarter ways to use those extra hours.

1. Leave your luggage somewhere secure

Start by getting rid of the bags.

Once your luggage is stored, Alicante becomes much easier to enjoy. You can walk to the beach, have a proper lunch, visit a museum or simply wander around the centre without pulling a suitcase behind you.

At Alicante Traveller Lounge, luggage storage costs €5 per piece for the day, regardless of size.

If you'd also like somewhere comfortable to come back to, the Storage + Lounge package is €8 per person, including one piece of luggage and lounge access.

You can leave, explore Alicante and return during your access period, so you don't have to choose between storing your luggage and having somewhere to relax later.

2. Have one last afternoon at Postiguet Beach

If you've already done most of your sightseeing, you don't necessarily need another itinerary. Sometimes the best last day is simply a few more hours by the sea.

Postiguet Beach sits directly beside central Alicante, below Santa Bárbara Castle. It's an urban beach around 900 metres long, with restaurants and other facilities nearby.

From Alicante Traveller Lounge, Postiguet is around a five-minute walk away. Leave your suitcase, take only what you need and spend a few hours swimming, reading or having lunch near the beach. And because you don't need to travel directly from the beach to the airport, you can come back afterwards, shower and change before your flight.

3. Take an easy walk through central Alicante

Your last day doesn't need to become another sightseeing marathon.

Without luggage, one of the nicest options is simply to walk through the old town, continue towards the Explanada de España and wander around the marina.

Stop somewhere for lunch or coffee, browse a few shops, or revisit somewhere you liked earlier in the trip.

With a 22:00 flight, you have enough time to enjoy Alicante slowly rather than spending the whole afternoon watching the clock.

4. Visit MARQ Archaeological Museum

If you'd rather spend part of the afternoon indoors, MARQ — the Archaeological Museum of Alicante is an excellent option.

The museum covers Alicante's history and archaeology and regularly hosts major temporary exhibitions. It is located at Plaza Doctor Gómez Ulla, next to the MARQ-Castillo area.

This makes MARQ particularly convenient if you're using Alicante Traveller Lounge: you can leave your luggage, visit the museum comfortably and return afterwards without crossing the city again.

It's also a smart option on a very hot summer afternoon or when the weather isn't ideal for the beach.

MARQ's opening hours vary by season and day, so check the museum's official website before visiting. For example, its current summer schedule is Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–21:00, with shorter hours on Sundays and public holidays and closure on Mondays.

5. Or visit MACA in the old town

Another good indoor option is MACA — Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art, located beside Santa María Basilica in the historic centre.

It's particularly useful if you'd like to combine a museum visit with a walk through the old town rather than dedicating the whole afternoon to sightseeing.

MARQ and MACA also give you two quite different choices:

MARQ if you're interested in archaeology and Alicante's history.

MACA if contemporary and modern art is more your thing.

Neither needs to consume your entire last day.

6. Or simply relax and get a little work done

You also don't have to spend every remaining hour sightseeing.

After several days of travelling, sometimes the smartest thing to do is nothing particularly ambitious.

Use the time to answer emails, organise photos, download something for the flight, charge your devices or simply sit somewhere comfortable.

At Alicante Traveller Lounge, we have Wi-Fi, charging, work tables and dedicated desks, as well as a large monitor if you need a more comfortable work setup.

It can be particularly useful if your hotel checkout is at 11:00 but you still have several hours before heading to Alicante Airport.

7. Shower and change before your flight

If you've spent your last afternoon walking around Alicante or at Postiguet Beach, being able to shower before flying home can make the journey considerably more comfortable.

A shower-only visit at Alicante Traveller Lounge costs €10 per person.

You'll have 20 minutes of private use of the shower room, with towels, toiletries and a hair dryer provided.

If you're already booking one of our packages, you can add a shower for €7 per person.

Infants under two receive free lounge and shower access, while children aged 2–10 receive a 50% discount. Luggage is charged separately at the normal per-item rate.

8. Take the C6 bus directly to Alicante Airport

Once you're refreshed and ready to travel, collect your luggage and continue towards the airport.

The C6 airport bus connects central Alicante with Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport. One of its city stops is MARQ-Castillo, making this particularly convenient from our location.

Alicante Traveller Lounge is only a short walk from the C6 stop and is also next to the MARQ-Castillo TRAM station, making it easy to move around the city during the day before returning for your luggage.

Make your last day in Alicante count

A 22:00 flight doesn't have to mean losing your entire last day.

Once the luggage is taken care of, those hours can become an extra beach afternoon, a museum visit, a long lunch or simply some quiet time before travelling.

At Alicante Traveller Lounge, you can store your luggage, relax, work, charge your devices and take a private shower before continuing your journey.

We're open daily from 9:00 to 20:00, close to Postiguet Beach, MARQ-Castillo TRAM and the C6 airport bus.
